There have been a number of assaults on UEA students on and around the UEA campus within the last week. Whilst there is no need to panic, it is very important that you take basic precautions when you are out at night. |

An assault occurred on Monday 20th February 2006 approximately 22:00 hours on the footpath at the bottom of Chancellor’s Drive and the footbridge/footpath to the John Innes Centre. A student whilst walking towards the main university site on his way home from the John Innes centre, was assaulted by 4 to 6 youths driving a stolen golf buggy. On the 29th of March 2006 the StreetJazz dance society are hosting the second of their annual dance soc nights. No need to know how to dance though for this night - it's simply a social in the hive open to everyone! There will be a free popquiz with prizes, where you can demonstrate your music and pop culture knowledge, and then a disco for the rest of the night hosted by Club Retro warm-up DJ Francis Hamlyn.
It's only £2 whether you're a member or not and you can buy tickets from the Box Office or on the door. The event starts at 8pm and runs till late. So if you're looking for something to do next Wednesday, get yourself upstairs to the hive! |

The Complete Stone Roses are one of the most successful UK tribute bands to date and have achieved a lot of success since the early days such as appearances at "T in the Park", appearing on TV as the actual Stone Roses in "dramatic reconstructions", appearing at and totally storming Oxygen music festival across in Ireland for a consecutive hat trick of appearances during 2002 - 2004 (not a lot of original bands do this never mind tribute acts). |

The results of the Executive by-election and the Coca-Cola and LCR theme night policy ballots are in.
The Union decided to boycott Coca-Cola by 719-602. It was decided to overturn the Executive decisions to not have certain themed nights.
Well done to Kumaran Veluppillai who was elected Sports Officer for 2006/07 and fills the last vacant seat on the Executive Committee. |

Students at the University of East Anglia have voted to boycott Coca Cola products. This comes just one week after the National Union of Students voted 300-259 to allow Coke the national soft drinks contract, despite acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations against the Company. |

In a search for Britain’s Brainiest University, the UK’s favourite weekly music magazine will be testing students across both music and general knowledge to reveal where the most intelligent young minds are studying this year. Norfolk Police are investigating an incident that took place in the ladies toilets of the Hive at around 12:30am during the Top 50 LCR on Saturday 9th March. There was an incident between two female students within the toilets that resulted in an assault. |
