Attacks on UEA students - Be aware when you're out

o Stick to well-lit areas and make sure that you never walk anywhere on your own. If you're going to be on campus till late, arrange with friends before you go out who you're going to walk home with.
o If you've been studying at the library till late or if you find yourself in a situation where you have no-one to walk home with, remember you can always phone security on 01603 592352 to be escorted home. You can also go to Nightline (Norfolk Terrace between blocks c and d) who have a spare room where you can stay if necessary. They can also phone security on your behalf and have attack alarms.
o There are attack alarms available from Union House reception for £1.

A number of the incidents have taken place in the Earlham Park area. We would advise students living in the Village to take extra care when walking to and back from campus in the dark and to walk in pairs or more if possible. Many attacks have involved larges groups of youths, so if you see anything suspicious do not hesitate to call Security who will if necessary involve the police.

The Union believes these attacks on students are unacceptable and we are doing everything in our power to ensure that no more students are the victims of this horrible crime. Please spread the message to be careful amongst your friends and if you know of any incidents please report them to the police and please do not hesitate to contact the Welfare Officer, Emma Kelly at su.welfare@uea.ac.uk or drop in on the first floor of Union House.
