Livewire1350 presents Hearing Aid! Today in the Blue Bar!

On Friday 17th March 2006, Livewire 1350AM presents Hearing Aid, a marathon broadcast that promises to be one of the largest charity events in student radio history. For twelve hours Livewire will be broadcasting live from the blue bar of Union House at UEA in an attempt to raise as much money as possible for a very worthy cause. The station will be raising money for Radio For Development, an organisation that works with isolated communities in the UK and around the world, harnessing the potential of radio to help improve their quality of life and well-being.

During the show, which runs from noon until midnight, the St Patrick’s Day revellers on campus will have the chance to win massive prizes in exchange for their cash. There will be an evening auction filled with prizes including a chance to meet an FHM honey, signed memorabilia from the FA Premier League, a visit the House of Commons as a guest of our local MPs and tickets to see the Kooks, the Zutons, the Feeling, We Are Scientists, Thin Lizzy and more. Plus there's two chances to win a pair of European flight tickets with the union bar’s “Around The World in 24 Drinks” promotion - at 3pm and 10pm.

Livewire’s finest DJs will be taking your requests as the day continues. Plus there’s live comedy and musical performances from some of the hottest new acts in the country. And because it’s St Patrick’s Day there will even be live Irish folk music running late into the night!

Perhaps most uniquely of all, an intrepid group of adventurers led by Livewire DJs Tom Moran and Paul Dutnall will be walking to the event on a “Paddy’s Day Pilgrimage” from California! Confused? Well, California is a village just north of Great Yarmouth – some 25 miles away from Norwich. Our “pilgrims” will be trekking across the Norfolk Broads all day, arriving at the blue bar in time to broadcast the final hour of Hearing Aid live across the world at 11pm!

Hearing Aid promises to be a hugely entertaining day in the history of student radio, and one which will raise a lot of money for a very important cause. Make sure you make it down to the blue bar between midday and midnight on Friday 17th March - and bring all the spare change you can muster!
