Plastic Glasses Policy Ballot results

Over the last couple of days, you've been voting in the policy ballot to decide the Union's stance on the plastic glasses it uses - a vote triggered by a petition signed by over 500 students at UEA. Voting happened yesterday and today on the following question:

"The Union of UEA Students should replace all soft plastic, non-recyclable cups currently used in the Union bars, LCR, Hive and Waterfront with more environmentally friendly alternatives as soon as feasibly possible."

The results were:

For 246
Against 39
Abstain 13
Spoilt Papers o
Total 298

For a vaild result, one thirtieth of the Union's memebership needed to vote in this election - over 500 students. Without this number, there is no vaild result for this policy, so the policy falls.

If you are keen to bring back a policy like this one, why not try suggesting it to your friendly Exec officers, who have already been working on this issue. You might also want to raise it at Union Council.
