10.00-17.00: Environment Fair in the LCR Local businesses and organisations are here to spread the word of love.

From composting to recycling, from energy saving to campaigning, everything is here for you to lead a sustainable lifestyle. There will also be a farmers’ market so cut down on your food miles and buy local.

Woof! Plus a whole range of performances from societies and other green surprises…

11.00-16.00: Community based painting in the Hive Get your hands dirty and help us make a UEA mosaic.

13.00: Rock Gospel Choir will be rocking the nation with their funky vibes in the Hive.

12.00-14.00: From those who brought you the acclaimed Art For Earth’s Sake, The Sustainability Initiative Fund will be hosting their second mother of an event in the Hive: The Green Dragon’s Den.

15.00: Plant-a-Tree :)

The Tyndall Centre for Climate Research is giving you the chance to offset your carbon emissions by planting 50 trees on UEA campus. If you are interested, sign up in the Hive before 15.00.

16.00: Cake competition

As part of Green Day v.2 (Tuesday 20th February), a cake competition will be organised as to raise awareness on food miles. The winner(s) will be given FREE tickets to an LCR of their choice. If you are a bit of a Jamie Oliver/Delia Smith in the kitchen, why not bake a cake and bring it along for the tasting ceremony at 16.00 in the Hive? Participants will be judged on their originality, the amount of food miles each ingredient has travelled and of course the taste!

So get your oven gloves on and start cooking!

17.00-20.00: Interfaith talk on the Environment in the Congregation Hall.

Is God Green? Your chance to have your say on the issue. Amen brotha’.

On Wednesday 21st February, there will be a FREE showing of Al Gore’s award winning climate change film “An Inconvenient Truth” and a debate after that. So rock on down to LT1 from 18.00!

My green fury friends, I sincerely hope you can all make an appearance during the Green Day, even it is just for one minute. Spread the word of love amongst your friends and may your white cotton socks transport you safely to this event.

Climate Change poses a serious threat to every living organism on this planet. From the cute and cuddly koala bears to your mother-in-law, Climate Change will affect everyone. So do your bit: turn off your electrical appliances when you leave your room/house, save on water and reduce the amount waste you produce. Mother Nature would really appreciate it.
