There are four paid Full-time officers who are elected to work for the Union full-time for a year. These officers can be students who are in the final year of their degrees or students who wish to take a year out of their studies. The full-time officers form the Management Committee of the Union and are at the forefront of an organisation with an £11 million pound turnover, making decisions and working to improve the student experience at UEA. The full-time officers are part of the Student Officer Committee and work to implement policy passed at Union Council, as well as campaigning on issues that affect students, whether that’s on a local level or as part of a national movement.
The Union of UEA Students is a charity and the full-time officers act as four of its trustees. The Union also has two subsidiary companies and the full-time officers are appointed directors of these businesses.

Part-time Officers are students who volunteer alongside their degrees to form the rest of the Student Officer Committee. There are six part-time officers elected via cross-campus ballot and six equal opportunities officers who are elected by the groups that they specifically represent. Part-time officers also have the opportunity to become trustees of the Union.
Part-time officers help to campaign on student issues and implement Union Council policy as well as providing valuable support for the full-time officers. Being a part-time officer is a great way to get involved in the students’ union, gain some volunteering experience, gain new skills and improve your C.V.
