Home Run List 2012
We have now released information relating to the Home Run List date, information stands and Housing Socials. See our housing front page for full details.
Council Tax Liability
If you are a student household who is in their final year and due to graduate, you may find you receive a bill for Council Tax charges. This is because once you are no longer classified as a student, you are required to pay Council Tax as per any other standard household.
You may be eligible for Council Tax Benefit, depending on your circumstances. Further information is available on the Norwich City Council Website.
If you're going to be returning to do a new, further study in Norwich that still gives you Council Tax exemption, then as long as you're vacating the property over the summer you can claim back any money paid when you can provide your new Exemption Certificate. If you choose to remain in the property over the summer then Council Tax payment is still due.
Student Survey
The Union of UEA Students would like current students to take part in a short survey about private sector off-campus housing. The responses will help us evaluate what we currently do and we would really appreciate it if the time could be taken to respond.
**WESTERN UNION HOUSING SCAM WARNING**
We would like to warn students about being very careful when being asked to transfer money via Western Union in order to 'prove funding' or pay for a deposit for a house. Usually when you are asked to do this it is not genuine and your money is lost. This is a scam taking place across the country. We would recommend that students employ extra caution, particularly when dealing with properties where details have been obtained on unregulated websites.
You can always contact Home Run if you're unsure and we can advised if we've heard of the letting agent or landlord you're dealing with.
