UEA S.C racing section

We offer Sunday racing at our home club on Oulton Broad against other members of WOBYC (Waveney and Oulton Broad Yacht Club). There are three races throughout the day starting at 10am and we're normally back at UEA by 2pm. The standard of racing is quite high at WOBYC with a number of members having been very successful at national and european level with various classes of boat.

We will be attending the annual student nationals in Weymouth again this year on November 4th-5th (week 6 weekend). To get a place in the racing team, we hold racing trials a number of weeks before the nationals where race officer Emma picks the best teams.

Team Racing is an area we will be practicing more this year now we have our sixth laser 2, this is different to fleet racing where a team of 3 boats must help each other gain the highest cumulative finishing positions and can be more rewarding than normal fleet racing. BUSA qualifiers take place at Grafham water sailing club which we hold trials for and attend, as well as visiting a couple of other universities to compete.

You're esteemed committee will also be looking at the possibility of holding our own university Team racing event this year, getting local uni's to come and show us what they've got.
