Due to unforseen (and unforseeable) circumstances 2 films from the Union Film Program this term are having to be replaced. This is a situation out of our hands and we apologise for any inconvenience or annoyance caused. We do however believe that we've lined up 2 fantastic films to replace those that we've had to drop!
=====================================
On Friday 12th March we were supposed to be showing "The Twilight Saga: New Moon". We will now be showing:
Sherlock Holmes
128 min / 12A / USA / 2009
The Guinness World Records lists Sherlock Holmes as the "most portrayed movie character" with 75 actors playing the part in over 211 films. But all that is forgotten once you see this new version of Sherlock Holmes. With Robert Downey Jr. stepping ably and charmingly into the role of the enigmatic detective and Jude Law as his loyal sidekick Watson, this new twist on the story is action-packed, funny and very entertaining.

The power and intensity of HIM’s live performances is world renowned. Fronted by the effortlessly charismatic Ville Valo, 2010 sees the return of HIM’s inimitable brand of brooding metallic romance with the February 8th release of their new album ‘Screamworks: Love In Theory & Practice.’
‘Screamworks: Love In Theory & Practice’ retains HIM’s gothic atmosphere but places a greater emphasis on the immediacy of the songs. New titles including ‘Love, The Hardest Way’, ‘In The Arms of Rain’, ‘Ode To Soltitude’ and ‘In Venere Veritas’ focus on soaring, hook-laden choruses, gargantuan riffs and fluid solos. Produced by Matt Squire (Panic At The Disco, Taking Back Sunday), the album streamlines the quartet’s finest attributes into their most accessible work to date and looks set to propel them into the mainstream.
Please note that this is an early show - doors open at 7pm - it will finish at 10pm.

The guitar, bass and drums trio The Hamsters have long been established as one of our premier Blues-Rock attractions, having performed well over 4,000 concerts in 24 years. Although a band in their own right - playing rootsy Rock, Blues and Americana - they've also long widely been regarded as the UK's leading interpreters of the music of Jimi Hendrix. Tonight, on their Jimi Hendrix 40th Anniversary Memorial Tour, they'll be performing a show of his songs to commemorate his passing 40 years ago in September 1970. The band will 'support' themselves by playing a short opening set of their own brand of music, then return for a full Jimi show!
"They’re fabulous: one of Britain's very best live bands" - Bob Harris, Radio 2
"Nobody does the music of Jimi Hendrix better" – The Times

The UK's premier Led Zeppelin tribute band returns. Unlike the majority of bands on the tribute circuit, Whole Lotta Led are a sound-a-like as opposed to a look-a-like tribute band. They believe that the music comes first and wearing wigs and costumes can distract from what they are trying to achieve - which is to play some of the best music ever written. Their aim is to reproduce the classic Zep songs with the same enthusiasm, excitement and passion that the original band created.
Whole Lotta Led will play 2 sets (therefore no support act.)
