The Executive




Your Union is led by 12 normal students who are elected each year from the student population.  These students lead campaigns, make sure we’re heard loud and clear by the University or the Government, and organise the clubs and societies, all the while ensuring that the Union runs as efficiently as possible.

Each officer has individual responsibilities and a collective responsibility for the organisation.  Each is a trustee, ensuring that the Union is solvent and acting within the law.

There are two types of Executive Officer – part-time officers, who fulfil the role alongside their studies, and full-time (sabbatical) paid officers who take a year out from their degree or after they graduate to work for you. 

The Executive make day-to-day decisions on behalf of students, but are instructed by the sovereign decision-making body, Union Council.
