News UpdateNews Update 1st Social 2006, Bowling and Beach Party Well yet another fun filled social on tuesday night. With most people turning up to bowling in beach clothes or something like it the mood was set for a good night. Bowling accompanied by a few drinks was a great laugh. Somewhere i have a print out of the scores and when i find it i will put them up on the site, but in short the boys won overall i believe, but the girls racked up the highest individual scores. Dave and Matthias winning the two games for the boys and Hana and Katie winning the girls, the scores of the winning girls were considerably higher than anyone elses. Anyway after the second game had be played under disco lights, and with some funny moments already been seen (see club awards for info), we headed off to the LCR. Met up in the blue bar and had a drink or two before heading upstairs to the LCR and then coming back down to the quiet blue bar again for several more drinks. From what i could see everyone had a good night and some of the photos should back that up. I will put these up after the weekend. If anyone has any that can go up on the site burn them off and pass them to me. Hope that everyone had as much fun as they looked like they were having, even if on a personal note after the walk home, if youd have dropped a brick on my toes i wouldn't have known. I think the next time i wear shorts and flip flops will be in the summer. Keep an ear and eye open about the next social. Caption Competition So we have a winner for the first caption competition. To see who it was then check out the club awards page. There is also now a new photo up ready for all of you to rip into and submit your captions. To have a look at the photo click here. 3rd Eastern Region Tournament Yet another successful day at the sportspark, both the mens and womens 1st teams got in some valuable games to work off the turkey. The best part of the day being a team from the beginners playing and playing well whilst enjoying it, managing to put in some very decent performances against some good teams. Photos in the albums section and reports and standings at this little link. Christmas Meal and Social The xmas meal and social was a great laugh, huge portions, fake moustaches, sombreros (sp?) and alchohol. Some lessons learned to improve next years and our final social and awards evening, but it was yet another great night out. Photos are up in the albums under christmas social. New Forum We have registered for a new forum off of the minisite, at the moment i cant replace it for the one we have so we would have to go off site. I will put the link here. There are alot of advantages to this new one with the only disadvantage being you have to go off site to see it. Hopefully it will get more posts than the one on here, if it doesn't we will just delete it. LINK TO NEW FORUM Student Cup So we travelled up to RAF Cranwell on Saturday 12th November for the Most important fixtures in the Year. The student cup qualifiers. We were hoping to both qualify for the finals and improve on last years postitions in the finals. For more information, results, reports and link to photos look here Eastern Region Tournament 2 2nd Social Quasar The second social went very well to follow on well from the 1st. Two teams of 11, fought it out to see who was the best team in the club, the boys or the girls. Its fair to say the victory was taken by the men as predicted before hand. The first game saw the girls get mullered as the men defended their base well and the score was double that of the girlies. Top Gun went to Cookie with Dave (now known as shrek) coming Second. For the Girls Katie finished top Gun. The second game was alot closer with the girls using Kamikaze style tactics of attack and im sure some cheating on behalf of the quasar people saw the girls guns work quicker, with Katie becoming the bain of my life with her 'rapid fire', Hanas sniper work and Victoria and Meghans relentless attacks on our base saw the girls notch up a better score. But were still well beaten by the guys. It was great fun and despite the stench of a hot and sweaty hour spent we got on our way towards Optic. Before hand we decided that a rematch was in order later in the year, so keep it in the back of your minds and be ready to pen it in to your diary when the date is revealed. If you bring up scores to training and hand them to me i will update them and you can see them all here. So we headed onto optic passing through a few pubs on the way. We stopped off at a nice little pub showing the football and the barman noted what a nice couple Joe and Eoin made. Then we headed to the bell, and as good as whetherspoons pubs are we as a club will no longer be seen anywhere near it as they were over zealous with identification and other stuff, so we popped across the road to Henrys where we had a laugh in the pool room to ourselves, Joe and his replacement ID established themselves as Kings of the Table (despite ID getting whooped earlier at quasar). We headed to Optic where we got Q jump and 3 bottles of champagne to help the night along nicely, and i think it was widely said that yet again it was a great night. So if you missed out then shame on you!!! Club Awards Throughout the year we will be keeping tabs on ideas for our own little award ceremony at the end. There will be awards for things such as best quote, best photo, funniest moment (on and off court), spirit of the club and others too. To read about it more, to see some of the nominations already or to nominate someone for an award or maybe a new award already mentioned have a look at the dedicated page. Click Here
