Match Report: UEA III v Norwich City IV

Match Report: Sunday 27th January 2008
UEA III
2:1
Norwich City IV
Adam
Harry

Hot on the heels of the Kent tournament, UEA’s third team claimed their second win of the season at the Sportspark against an experienced Norwich City 4 side courtesy of goals from Adam Everett and Harry Low.

UEA’s starting line-up included a blend of youth and experience with three players having recently returned from ‘The Garden of England’ and three representing the university for the first time.

After spending the majority of the opening passage in the attacking division, it was no surprise that UEA took the lead. Some patient build up play led to Adam Everett running in, before rising majestically to loop the ball inside the post for his third, and arguably his finest, goal of the season so far.

Some bitty korfball ensued before Norwich City’s fourth team equalized shortly before the interval.

Four new players were introduced at half time to shake things up, while UEA’s coaches departed leaving the team to fend for themselves. As the second half wore on, the game became more physical, with UEA’s defence keeping the opposition at bay admirably.

In attack, despite the vast number of shots raining down on the post, the thirds were finding it understandably difficult to get the breakthrough. However, with time running out Harry Low did just that with his fifth league goal of the campaign. UEA sought to extend their lead, although they were a shade fortunate when with just a few minutes left, Norwich City’s penalty taker failed to convert his opportunity, allowing the third team to see out the final few minutes with a certain degree of comfort.

A special mention goes to Sarah T, Stephanie T & Lauren R who all made their debuts this week, and showed that they could yet become regular member of the third team in 2008.

Thanks to Harry Low for writing the report!
