Match Report: UEA I v Stingers I

UEA I enjoyed a goal-glut against Stingers I in a game that saw no fewer than 22 goals, 16 of which came from UEA. Considering the lineup lacked captain and top goalscorer Ami and the solid, consistent Katie, it was up to Lizzy and fellow second teamer Becka, who made her first team debut, to complete the starting female quarter.
You would be forgiven for forgetting that UEA weren't fielding their strongest lineup at the start of the game as the student's wasted no time in asserting their authority. They rushed into a healthy early lead thanks to a host of goals from Lucy and Rachel. By half-time, Rob added his name to the scoresheet and Rich grabbed a brace to make the scoreboard read 10-2.
It was always going to be a tough task getting motivated for the second-half of a game that was effectively in the bag, and indeed the sting came out of UEA's tails as they took their foot of the gas. They were almost matched in the second half, with Stingers adding four to their total and UEA scoring six. Rachel and Danny claimed their first hatrick's of the season, all the latter's goals coming in the second half. Lucy grabbed an impressive, and unprecedented for this season, double hatrick. Jimmy's single completed the rout.
With this game being the last Norfolk League fixture before the eagerly anticipated Nationals, scoring so many goals from several different players will be a welcome boost of confidence.
