Second Team Player Profiles

Who's who in UEA II
Knightsy
Adam Knights has been an enthusiastic captain for this second team charges so far this season, often leading by example with solid goalscoring performances. He'll also be a part of the first team squad as they look to defend their title in the BUSA Nationals. He's a Lampard-loving Chelsea fan too, so if deflected goals were commonplace in Korfball, he'd have probably scored about 50 already this season.
Lizzy
Last year's second team captain and a holder of a covetted BUSA Gold medal, only being away at placement has kept her from having an equally successful season this time around.
Mike
Narrowly missed out on a place in last year's second team, the man who gave his name to the Weird Mike award made sure he had a place in this season's squad. On his day, he rivals most of the first team when it comes to shooting from distance. His lightning pace has wreaked havoc in the Norfolk league.
Julia
Another player enjoying a second season as a second teamer, Julia has come on leaps and bounds, capitalising on her experiences of last year. Scores key goals and defends solidly, Julia has certainly shaken off her nice-girl on-court reputation.
Jimi
A dedicated and hungry player set to make his second consecutive appearance at Manchester's Second Team Nationals. Jimi's drive, determination and shooting ability has made him a key player in the second string this season.
Laura
The Burmanator claims the title of UEA's smallest player by a significant margin, which makes it all the more remarkable that she often manages to get the ball in a basket that is easily 6 times her standing height.
Alex
Pyscho Maccers was the winner of last year's Weird Mike award, though these days it's his dazzling Korfball skills that petrifies opponents rather than the deathly stare he adopts whenever a camera is in view.
Alison
A key 3rd teamer last time round, Alison made the step up to the second string with ease. Dominant under the post and clinical with medium range shots, despite not even shooting properly!
Matt
Despite being new to the sport this year, second year Matt forced his way into the second team squad with a string of impressive performances both in training and in the Norfolk League.
Becka
Like Knightsy, Becka will be included in the first team squad for the BUSA Nationals tournament and may well play a significant role in both UEA's quests for Gold. Becka has managed to shake the goal-shy reputation that haunted her last year to become one of the second teams main goal threats.
Harry
One of a trio of "newbies" who has forced their way into the Second Team Nationals squad, Harry's inclusion comes on the back of some impressive goalscoring performances in the third team. Despite being new to the sport, Harry has already established himself as a key member of the club.
Sarah
Another Korfball "newbie", Sarah was quickly thrown into 2nd team matches after displaying her talents in training. Clearly a talented netballer, Sarah has made the transition to the superior world of Korfball with ease and has contributed with a hatful of goals already.
Gareth
Second year Gareth was propelled into the second team almost immediately after showing the korfball hierachy his ability early on. Also a keen rugby player, Mr. Newman missed out on second team nationals only because of holiday. Expect to see some more match-winning performances in 2008-9.
