Match Report: UEA I v Knights I

Match Report: Sunday 9th December 2007
UEA I

Knights I

Paul

UEA 1 strolled onto the CNS court with confidence high after the previous weeks victory over Norwich City 2. Everyone knew what a tough game this week would be but no-one could quite have believed the first half events. Captain Katie’s defence held strong for the first few onslaughts however, eventually the first goal went in. After that, the floodgates unfortunately opened and quite quickly goals were flying in for Knight’s. Some good attacking play from Jimmy and Co didn’t prosper (the basket had been greased!) and unfortunately at half time UEA were 12-0 down. It must be noted that the majority of the goals were one shot attacks, showing the quality that Knight’s possess with their shooting.

Half time brought a rocket into the UEA team and (as I’m sure the video replays will show) UEA 1 came out fighting. Hannah had managed to scare Steph off the court at the interval and Jimmy and Alex began to link up confidently to work away at the Knight’s defence. Eventually the attacking paid off and Alex sank a lovely long shot. 12-1. A comeback was on the cards, the bookies now had UEA at only 1000-1 to win (the days best price) and confidence was growing. 13-1 changed the ends and brought the better looking (‘pinups’) division into attack. UEA earned a free pass, which was slotted comfortably home by Paul to bring the score to 13-2. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be the comeback of all comebacks and the game finished 14-2.

After a great 2nd half performance (the 2nd half was 2-2!) UEA can take a lot of confidence from this half. The video will certainly make interesting viewing. Well done to Jimmy who managed to keep Charlie to only 4 goals!

Thanks to Paul for writing the report!
