UEA Korfball Committee 2007-2008

President PAUL

Paul will be entering his third season as a UEA Korfball player next year. As last summer's only UEA entrant into the Avon Tyrell camp, Paul has acquired qualifications in Korfball coaching and refereeing. Played a valuable role in UEA's unfancied 2007 Nationals triumph. As one of the two males out of the BUSA Gold squad who will be a UEA player next year, he'll be a vital part of next year's first team. As the newly elected President, they'll be just as much pressure on him to perform off the pitch as well as on it.

Vice President KATIE

As a social sec in the 2006-2007 season, Katie takes a step up the ladder of committee responsibilities to become the club's second in command. On the court she'll be looking to build on two succesful previous seasons having been an important member of the 2006 Second Team Nationals winning squad and the BUSA Nationals 2007 Gold Squad.

Treasurer LAURA

2006-2007 was Laura's first year at UEA and her first year as a Korfball player. It didn't take her long to convert from not knowing what the hell Korfball was to becoming an key component in UEA's record-breaking 3rd team. She'll make a great Treasurer, striking fear into anyone who falls behind on payments. However, she does support Ipswich Town, so I personally wouldn't trust her with my match fees.

Social Secs TOM, ALEX & BECKA

Like last year's social secs, this year's trio all formed part of UEA's succesful second string. A UEA Korfball social without the presence of these three is a rare thing and they can use their experience as regular drunkards to good effect when organising events through the 2007-2008 season. Each will bring a certain thing to the position; Becka has her experience as a bar-worker, Tom will make an example to the clubs members of why you should be careful when on a social if you are a lightweight and Alex is in there with a lot of Norwich's pimps as one of the most frequent users of their products (which will help him greatly as a social sec, somehow). However, traditions are in danger with these three at the helm of social activities. Rumour has it they wanted to organise All Day Drinking on a SATURDAY!!!

Tournament Secs JESS and JIMI

The person with the unenvious job of arranging the UEA Tournament this time around will be a fresher from last year Jess. Having played a key part in the 3rd team in her first term as a Korfball player, Jess took to the game with surprising ease and it wasn't long before her talents caught the eye's of 2nd Team coaches Paul and Jimmy. After Christmas she was elevated to the 2nd team were she quickly established herself as a regular.

The position of away secretary this time round falls upon the shoulders of Jimi Hall. A familiar face in both the 2nd and 3rd teams in the 2006-2007 season Jimi will be an important member of the club both and and off the court.

Publicity Sec HANNAH

Although Hannah has some very big shoes to fill this year, i'm sure she will rise to challenge, if not do a much better! Hannah is entering her second year of Korfball. She was part of team defence in the second team line up last year and made a few apperances for the first team towards the end. Hannah aims to recruit a record number of new members for 2007-2008 and raise the profile of the club.

General dogsbody and PA to Paul and Katie JIMMY

Jimmy surprised the club this year by returning to UEA to do a PGCE and of course join UEA Korfball Club for the fourth year running. In Jimmy's Korfball years he has won hot prospect male and been voted most valuable player. Jimmy was welcomed to the game last year when he was part of the BUSA gold winning first team. He also proved himself a valuable member of the committee as Vice President (he only messed up a few times). Jimmy is keen to help out in whatever way possible to make his last year of korf (unless he decides to come back again) a memorable one!!
