Also:

Peddars Way

If you know of any more good Norfolk walking links to share with the club please e-mail Ruth.

Mountaineering Organisations

British Mountaineering Council (BMC)

The BMC (British Mountaineering Council) is the representative body that exists to protect the freedoms and promote the interests of climbers, hillwalkers and mountaineers, including ski-mountaineers.

Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI)

The Association of Mountaineering Instructors is the representative body for professionally qualified Mountaineering Instructors in the British Isles. AMI is committed to promoting good practice in all mountaineering instruction.

Alpine Club

The Alpine Club, the world's first mountaineering club, is Britain’s only national club for Alpinists. Since it was founded in 1857 its members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration. We aim to be the club of choice for all mountaineers, providing a forum for sharing experiences and information.

Exhibitions

National Mountaineering Exhibition

Sited at Rheged, the Cumbrian visitor centre built to inspire visitors to go out and explore the whole of Cumbria and North Pennines rather than just visiting the well-known honey pots. Includes the Helly Hansen National Mountaineering Exhibition.

Film festival

Every autumn, Kendal, on the edge of the Lake District, hosts one of the most prestigious Mountain Festivals in the world. An international gathering comes for a great experience. There's a massive programme - films, lectures, seminars and entertainment - unequalled in Europe.

Challenges

3 Peaks

The highest peaks in England (Scafell - 978m), Scotland (Ben Nevis - 1344m) and Wales (Snowdon - 1085m) pose a great challenge for anyone wishing to climb them in succession.

World Challenge

Overseas expeditions for students, also with info for those interested in leading trips abroad.

Courses

Jonathan Conville Memorial Trust

The Jonathan Conville Memorial Trust was set up by the family of Jonathan Conville after he died on the North face of the Matterhorn in the winter of 1979/80, aged 27. The Trust's aims are to encourage and assist individuals to train for and pursue outdoor adventure in the spirit which Jonathan followed during his life.

Mountain Leader Training

The Mountain Leader Training Boards provides training and assessment for those who lead others on the mountains and crags of the UK. The awards have become the benchmark of competence in the outdoors and are recognised by many organisations.
