On-Campus Campaigns

ON CAMPUS:

• This year our campaigns and projects include:

  Campus "Bring your own cup" scheme

  National campaign: Young Greens - Stop Trident.

  Campaign for a real green travel plan: alternatives to the planned multi-storey carpark. We also support the call made by "Norwich Green Party": http://www.norwichgreenparty.org for a Quality Bus Contract between First Buses and Norfolk County Council, to provide better, more affordable services and more accountability.

  Transition University, peak oil and climate change: how UEA community can lead (by example) in responding to peak oil and climate change.

  Students in the community: better university information about students’ voting rights in local/national elections, return of the on-campus polling booth, promotion of university/community integration.

  Developing the STUDENT ORGANIC BOX SCHEME - "The Horn of Plenty" jointly with the Permaculture Society. This is run as a co-operative, not-for profit, voluntary venture to provide more affordable local organic vegetables to students. Set up in early 2007, we'd like to develop further. Please contact us if you have ideas or would like to help run the box scheme, or volunteer on the stall.

  Encouraging students to REGISTER TO VOTE and vote in the local elections

We also...

• Have discussion sessions/debates on recent issues and Party Policy.
• Support and are involved with the campaigns of other societies, in particular the member societies of the GREEN WING, the umbrella group for student green societies.
• Have stalls, leaflet, put up posters and try to organise at least one political debate a year.
