Celebration of Civil Partnerships Pictures from the Civil Partnerships 25th Oct 2006
As part of the Union's Liberation's Week, the LGBT ran a mock civil partnership ceremony in the Square on Wednesday 25th Oct 2006. This was in celebration of the Civil Partnerships Bill that came into force on 21st December 2005, giving same-sex couples the chance to get 'civily partnered'! The Bill was a great leap forward towards full legal equally for gay couples. Our thanks go to the volunteer couples - Steve & James, Kim & Emma - and to everyone who helped out!
