Hi, I’m Tessa, and I’m your elected Academic Officer for the year. I’ve been at UEA for a few years now, as an undergrad and a postgrad, so I’m well-placed to help you with any academic problems you might have. I work with the Advice Centre (upstairs in Union House) to provide support and make sure you feel comfortable with your course, your tutors, and your workload. I also work with the University to make sure that the student voice is heard when decisions are made.
If you like the idea of getting involved in representation, there are lots of opportunities. I co-ordinate student reps, and if you’d like to represent others in your school, club or society, watch out for our election campaigns, or just contact me for an update. Some reps sit on Union Council, our biggest representative body, where all the big decisions about the Union get made – it’s your Union, and it’s your chance to make changes!
So if you want to talk about anything related to your degree, being a rep, or the Union in general, come along and have a chat. My office is upstairs in Union House. If you’re not around, you can email me at su.academic@uea.ac.uk, or call me on 01603 592589.
