The main function of the Union of UEA Students is to represent students at UEA

It does this at a number of levels, ensuring the Union is run as students want it to be, working with the University to ensure that UEA is run in a student-friendly, and at a local and national level on issues affecting our students.

How are UEA students represented?

1. At an individual level, The Union Advice Centre can represent students on an individual level, for example if a student wishes to lodge an academic complaint.
2. Within the Union of UEA Students, allowing students to have their say in how their Union is run. Union Council is the main legislative body of the Union, instructing the Union Executive Committee in everything from how the bar is run to the campaigns we run and the issues we raise with the University.
3. Within the Graduate Students’ Association, whilst all UEA students are members of the Union, postgraduates also have an individual representative body to ensure their individual needs are listened to.
4. Within UEA, student representatives sit on more or less every committee across the University, from school-level committees such as the teaching committees to central-level committees such as the University Court.
5. On a national level the Union of UEA Students is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS) which lobbies and campaigns for students at a national and an international level.

Who can be a student representative?

Student representatives are just that – representatives. They are there to represent other student’s views and interests. There are many different ways you can represent your peers:
