What's On

The Union Film program gives you a chance to see a films per week for only £2.75 each. We show them on Thursdays in LT1, at 7.30pm (unless otherwise stated).

Tickets are also available from the Box Office and also an hour before the film starts outside LT1. Neither pass nor ticket guarantees you entry to a particular film as seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis - so please do not try to reserve seats for friends - especially on the busiest screenings.

Some changes to the film programme are beyond our control. Any alterations to the programme will be posted at the Box Office and on the film notice board in the Hive. If you have any comments and suggestions or would like to get involved with the Union film Society please speak to a steward at the film or come up to the Ents office UH.

Mamma Mia

(UK/USA/Germany 2008 108m PG)

A film based on a musical based on the ABBA back catalogue - a strange concoction but it’s really good! The story revolves around Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who lives with her mother Donna (Meryl Streep) on an idyllic greek island, who - on the eve of her wedding  - is trying to work out who out of 3 possible men could be her father... It’s a hugely enjoyable musical with terrific songs and superb performances from a fabulous cast.

Hancock

(USA 2008 92m 12A)

Hancock (Will Smith) has problems. He’s got superhero powers but also a drinking problem and some serious PR issues. He might be able to save lives, but he leaves such destruction in his wake that the people of Los Angeles have had enough. Can he turn it around? The film leaps fluidly from comedy to action to romance, with creative storytelling and a great lead performance from Will Smith.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

(USA 2008 122m 12A)

Can Harrison Ford really still be Indiana Jones? Oh yes, he can. The man in the hat is back and the film delivers exactly what it should - action, laughs and fantastic entertainment. With Shia LaBeouf adding some youth to the proceedings it’s a worthy addition to the franchise.
