Last year Union Council voted by a large majority to create the position of Ethical Issues Officer, to reflect the strong commitment by student at UEA to ethical issues.

The result of referendums on whether to continue stocking Nestle & Coca-Cola in our shops shows how many students really care about the community they live in and the wider world, and this is backed up by policies passed by Union Council over recent years.

All Exec Officers are mandated to carry out the policies passed by referendums and Union Council, and for the Ethical Issues Officer these can involve campaigning, monitering boycotts or the actions of the Union, liasing with the University, and supporting societies related to ethical issues.
