Where to get help

If you're worried about exams, help is available.

Advice Centre

Call in or telephone us at the Advice Centre, Union House. We are open week days 9.00 till 5.00 except on Wednesdays when we open at 11.00am. You can arrange an appointment with an Advice Worker or Sabbatical Officer. If we can’t help we will point you in the direction of someone who can. Learning Support Services

Learning Support Services at the Dean of Students has a lot of information about exams and how to cope. Collect a leaflet from Reception, Dean of Students or visit www.uea.ac.uk/menu/admin/dos/ learning/welcome.html learning/welcome.html for study skills help sheets.

Appointments can also be made with Learning Support Services for more personal attention. To book an appointment contact Reception: 01603 592761.

Mental Health Co-ordinator

Nightline

Nightline is a confidential listening service for students and can also provide information on useful organisations. They are based between Norfolk Terrace blocks C and D and are open between 8.00pm and 8.00am during term-time. Telephone: 01603 503504. Samaritans

The Samaritans are open 24 hours, contact them by telephone on: 01603 611311 or 08457 909090.

University Counselling Service

The University Counselling Service can be contacted on 01603 592651 for an appointment.

They have leaflets available on their website for coping with exam stress and anxieties: (www.uea.ac.uk/dos/couns).

They also offer a Stress Reduction Workshop

Illness

If you are unwell you should go to the Health Centre on campus and ask to be registered as unwell. You may need to prove your condition at a later date. If for any circumstance whatsoever you consider yourself unable to take the exam you MUST advise your school at the earliest possible opportunity AND before the exam is due to start. You may then be eligible for a delayed first sit in August.
