The Fairtrade Funkathon is a two-week marathon of music, grooves and happy times to spread some Fairtrade feeling across the Norwich between March 1st and 15th 2004!

Over 50 groups and organisations spanning all sectors of society and urban culture have joined together to bring you the Funkathon - united in their desire to bring together everyone’s right to party however they want with a message of justice and fairness that everyone can celebrate!

It’s about bringing people together… each day the Funkathon caters for a different funky taste – from house, reggae, bollywood, disco and indy through to elecro-pop, breakdance, salsa, swing, live jamming, drum n’ bass, hip hop, retro, cheese and funk! The brilliant programme of events caters for everyone’s grooving needs… All the feeling and all the fever are there in a line-up that's fresh, dynamic and put together especially for you!

The Funkathon events are linked not only by fun and freedom to funk, but also by our FUNKY FAIRY theme running through the 15 days. A team of eye-catching, branded funky fairies will be an unmissable presence at each event - welcoming groovers with chunky Fairtrade chocolate, spreading the word by shaking their Fairly-traded booty, selling shed-loads of Fairtrade stuff, and having a laugh with everyone there, and handing out goodbye gifts when each day’s partying is nearly done. All this in venues specially themed for the occasion.
