Fairtrade and the Union

The Union of UEA students has a commitment to fairtrade. Several motions have been put forward to Union council and adopted as Union policy.

These policies seek to:

Provide a fairtrade alternative in all Union run shops, bars and cafés
Campaign for increased consumption of fairtrade products
Lobby the University to become a “fairtrade university” (for more information on this, see the Fairtrade University section)

Retail Services

You can currently buy a wonderful selection of Fairtrade products from the UFO, Papershop and that vending machine on the ground floor of Union house!

Although the bananas in the UFO might look brown and mankey on the outside, they are all good on the inside! They are in fact organic fairtrade bananas, and so pesticides are not used, hence the skins don't keep looking fresh for as long as the non-organic fairtrade bananas!
Fairtrade is now the only type of coffee and tea now sold in the Hive and the Pub/Bar! It costs the same as the old stuff and is infinity better! There’s also a lovely freshly ground Coffee in the Hive too, fairtrade heaven!
